Two Winnipeggers are home after following a research expedition in Greenland. The trip was the first scientific attempt to follow the migration of narwhals through channels of ice between the coasts of Greenland and Nunavut. Researchers also studied bowhead whale acoustics and vocalizing throughout migration.

Marine mammals in the north are facing numerous threats: changing ice conditions due to climate change; and oil and gas developments and commercial fisheries. The organization hopes their discoveries will increase scientific knowledge and raise awareness about protection.
